Bust-town for ANALysts?

Just want to highlight two datapoints in this article :

eFinancialCareers reports equity research analyst salaries have gone down from their dot com highs. Big surprise there.

Search firm Armstrong International pegs MD salaries between $785,000 and $1.3 million, or a whopping 50 percent off of 2000 highs.

An unnamed London firm says bonuses were 20 to 40 percent off the mark this year.

Just scanning Wharton’s salary data for grads doesn’t quite tie out to this trend. Wharton grads who went into research in 2000 received an average total comp of $105,000 compared to $135,000 for 2005. Ditto with Columbia grads for sell side and buy side. Hm.
