From the ranks of NYC Bankers, BBalle gets its own advice columnist. So sign up for those throwaway gmail accounts and ask away!
First, a little info about her:
Q: What makes you qualified to write this column?
A: I have 5+ years experience as an investment banker. I quit last month. I saw all sorts of things during those 5+ years, some bordering on illegal and much of it unethical.
Q: I’m talking about your understanding of the banker psyche. Any insight there?
A: When you have a group of people made up of mostly guys, pay them six figures from the get go, but force them to work ungodly hours even the really good ones are gonna start to lose their center and have bad judgement calls especially when it comes to female colleagues, hot secretaries AND definitely when we’re at Scores (NYC gentlemen’s club). So I say again, I saw some questionable things. But I still enjoyed my multiple trips to the champagne rooms of Scores, all underwritten by my senior bankers. Thanks guys.
Q: What is your overarching view of the banking world?
A: How I feel about the investment banking world is much like how I felt about the first tech bubble and the second tech bubble. By the way, I also attended the askjeeves.com (or now ask.com) mentioned by quintessa. I loved the first bubble and I welcome the second bubble with open arms. I love the excitement in the air and the decadence that it brings with it. But this is not to say that I want it in my backyard. Kind of like how I enjoyed dating investment bankers but i would really not want to marry one.
