London v. New York

What do we have that they don’t have over there? Apparently, nothing.
The Sun’s handy chart highlights the similarities: smoking bans (imminent for London), terrorist attacks, ~ 8MM in population, and bridges, too.
The two datapoints on money, though, say it all. Cost of yellow cab to JFK: $45; cost of black cab to Heathrow: $72. Cost of train to JFK/Heathrow: $7 vs. $26. Granted, only the brave take the 1 1/2+ ride out to JFK, so a better comparable is NJ Transit to EWR, which I believe costs ~ $15 or so.
This study puts London at a 110 compared to New York benchmarked at 100, though I’ve always felt it is much more expensive. San Francisco at 85 sounds about right.
