Finding Love on the Road

Holiday season got you feeling a bit lonely? Wondering who you’ll have when it’s time for the New Year’s kiss? Never fear…there’s still time to find someone without having to resort to a Craigslist ad.
In fact, you can say goodbye to random hookups through the social networking sites in favor of something that’s slightly less sleazy — situational dating!
Actually, I just made that term up after having read this WSJ article about dating through travel. Most of the sites mentioned in the article are about finding travel buddies, but two that I thought would appeal to your sense of serendipity are AirTroductions and Hitchsters.
AirTroductions was founded by a guy who once sat next to Miss Texas on a plane, and never forgot about it. So he started a company where you can at the very least guarantee that one person you’re sitting next to isn’t a huge, smelly dude (which always seems to happen to me.)
Then there’s also Hitchster, where you can cab share rides to the airport in advance. Only downside is that you only can specify male/female. The Hitchsters option is definitely less datey, but at the very least you can see more of your fellow NYCer. Or perhaps snag a cougar or two.
