The Holiday Emergency List

1. Booze: Winesby has 90-minute messenger service anywhere in Manhattan. Sherry Lehmann offers free delivery in Manhattan for orders over $125. FreshDirect has some champagne. At last check, delivery slots to 12/24 are already filling up.

2. Last minute gifts: NYMag has covered this already — several stores will be open late on Christmas Eve, including the Apple store in Soho (24 hours), Urban Outfitters (10pm) and American Apparel (11pm). There’s also a bunch of booths set up in Grand Central if you need to get something before you catch your train.

3. Toliet paper: MaxDelivery is guaranteeing 1-hour delivery up to midnight on Christmas Eve. They have some bath and food-type gifts for the people who you just need to get something, anything for (Ideas: Murray’s cheese board & cheeses, Knipschildt chocolates)

4. Instabed: Out of town guests? Bed, Bath & Beyond on 18th & 6th Ave has the Aero inflata beds. So does Gracious Home on the UES.

5. New Year’s Eve plans: Hotel prices are through the roof for the holidays, but why not do a last minute housing swap and spend NYE somewhere not smelly and loud? (Ideas:SF, LA, or if perhaps you have a place to stay but you need a little spending cash?)

6. Reservations: Two for Eight — so you don’t have to call places. And we’ve already covered where to book a table for a group. There’s always OpenTable as well. Already too late? Good restaurants that don’t take reservations: Spotted Pig, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Gramercy Tavern, Schillers, Pearl Oyster Bar and nearby Mary’s Fish Camp. Best bet for out of town guests is probably Gramercy Tavern.

7. Transport: Often this time of year you can’t just count on being able to catch a cab when you need one. Best to always think of backups, especially if you have to get to the airport. Ground transport for LGA, EWR, and JFK.
