I-Banking, No Longer Just a Young Man’s Game

Word on the street is that more and more 40 year olds are applying for analyst programs, and getting in. Just kidding. Did you just wet your pants?

The real story is that “vice chairmen”, that amorphous class of people, are being increasingly tapped for non-dealmaking roles at banks, reports FinancialNews.

The title is usually reserved for “bankers without day-to-day management responsibilities whose job it is to maintain relationships with important clients,” according to FN. But more and more banks are looking to fill senior management roles with former hotshots, partly because the talent pool just isn’t there due to the dot com bust.

What does this mean for you? Longer wait till you get that spot, bud-dy.
