MBAs Who Don’t Necessarily Want to Make Money

Hey, MBAs aren’t just in it for the dough and the security. Sometimes they don’t know why they’re in it, actually, or come to think of it, what it is they’re in.
After all, where’s a calculating, (but soulful) MBA to turn to for help considering semi-metaphysical questions such as “finance vs. industry?”, “in the current environment, how am I going to get a job?” or the age-old “how much would I have been making if I hadn’t gone to B-school?”
The FT reports that MBAs out there have a new New Agey sounding course called “Creative and Personal Mastery” to help guide them through these complex and challenging issues. The course, offered at the London Business School for the fall semester, and previously offered at Columbia and Haas is taught by Srikumar Rao.
“Prof Rao says there are four main planks to the course: learning techniques to spark creativity; helping students find their purpose in life; learning how to be most effective; and how to find balance in life.”
The conflicted MBAs out there can also consider devoting time to programs offered by MBAs Without Borders — which, before you begin ridiculing, you should know they appear to be doing good work — though it may take help from Mommy and Daddy to meet those loan payments.
