On Victor Niederhoffer…

What does the high-profile hedgie and a cab driver have in common?

A lot, argues one New Yorker reader in a letter to the editor in response to an earlier New Yorker profile of Niederhoffer, (which, incidentally, is completely fascinating, especially the picture of Niederhoffer in his badass Harvard squash sweater — accessible only in the print New Yorker it seems).

Comments Michael Wien of Chicago, Il:

“‘Cab’ is slang for trading the small ‘put options’ that Niederhoffer relishes in selling. There’s a saying in the trading pits in Chicago - ‘Sell a cab, drive a cab.’ That may be where Niederhoffer is heading.”
