Diamond Lounge. When You’re So Elite That No One Knows You. Not a Single Person.

There’s a new elite social network in town, and it’s going to be so elite, that not you, nor anyone you know, nor anyone you might even *think* of, will be invited to join.
You’ve all heard of aSmallWorld, that private “elite” social network that got started by an ex-investment banker back in 2004. Well another network has been launched and it’s aiming to be waaaaay more selective than ASW.
Diamond Lounge sure sounds like money, and hell its website (rotating diamond, telltale luxury advertiser-black) looks as much like a website can look like money without actually being money. But membership is not about money. Really. It’s about that mythical “cool” we keep hearing about.
Membership is limited to about 500 on launch, versus ASW’s current base of 250,000. And if you think Ivies are selective, try this one for size: only 5% of 5,000 applicants have been accepted, and the club anticipates accepting no more than 30,000. That’s right, there are only 30,000 worthy. Oh yeah, monthly membership costs $60.
The site’s founder, Arya Marafie, criticized ASW’s overly broad membership to the NYT: ““If you look at other sites trying to be exclusive, they let every single person in and over the long term that’s a disaster. We’d rather have 100 members than 5000 of the wrong kinds of people.”
Some of you no doubt will still find this kind of thing appealing. So here goes: applicants can submit info on the website, though another college comparison is apt — the application requires a “personal statement” described as follows: “Complete a short personal statement that explains why you are ‘right’ for the Diamond Lounge. Our Committee are looking for interesting, professional people who will bring something unique to the club.”
Oh, joy.
But not everyone has to fill out that mundane questionnaire. According to the Independent, “About 1,000 invitations have been sent out to billionaires, Hollywood film stars and sportsmen and women.” Because once again, it’s not about money. Plenty of fascinating social workers, garbage collectors and junior level i-bankers were also contacted.

What is cool ? Bankers , Rockstars , Models Actors, social Networkers, Internet Geeks, DJ’s. I am a facebook, and ASW Member because I social Network. I want to social Network with the world and be open to meeting people WHO ARE FRIENDS OF FRIENDS AND ASSOCIATES. A Club is a gathering of likeminded people, I am sure there are 5000 people who will want Diamond Lounge, but at the airport I choose to have a coffee at a coffee shop, read a magazine available to millions and leave the frequent flyers in the boring, empty, VIP Lounge reading a qulity newspaper. ALONE.

If you were actually in the Diamond Lounge you would know that the site has 500 genuine members and there are many A-list celebrities, CEO’s of major Companies and many HNW individuals.
The site is also higher quality than the competition and much more functional (including live email, video conferencing and multi-party text chat).
In my experience, people who are this critical generally turn out to be jealous individuals who have achieved nothing for themselves!

Diamond Lounge sounds nice, but have you all heard of this new site called Monaco Motion?! This site is redefining the luxury-elite social networking concept. They require an application to their site, in addition to a $10.00 USD application fee. The application mainly asks questions in regard to the applicants interests. I think its going to be the next big thing in elite social networking!

Which begs the question. Why does it look so cheap?
It’s the dating clearing house for the socially awkward.

To answer the “A said”
Why would I need a lame website to connect to the people
I hang out with in the REAL WORLD? The rock star, the movie star,
the socialite, the starchitect, the politician, the eight figure selling
artist - I ACTUALLY know them…do you?
