Best Black Car Driver Ever

Ever wonder how your black car driver lets loose?
Black car company Valera Global, which serves not just New York but markets in Europe as well (who knew!) and formerly known by the much more brilliant name Computer Car, recently had its “eighth annual banquet” (for what, we don’t know).
The banquet was held at the Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows, and awards were given out to Most Improved Chauffeur, Best-Kept Vehicles, Best-Dressed Chauffeurs and The Chauffeur of the Year (Walter Henriquez).
We found the concept of awards doled out in a public most appealing, and one that could be used effectively in many corporate settings. Applications for the white collar world could include “Most Idiotic/Frequent Mass Emailer”, “Biggest Philanderer” and “Favorite Secret Work Couple.”
Beyond that, the party sounds like it was pretty damn fun. Describes the New Yorker’s Talk of the Town:
“The Valera drivers in attendance represented nearly forty countries. In the summer, they assemble for an international cook-off—the Filipinos stuff a pig, the Haitians prepare a fish platter, the Egyptians roast a lamb. On this night, the dinner was a more standard buffet, and the guests, while waiting in line, exchanged black-car-centric anecdotes (’Remember, the person who turned in Phil Spector was his chauffeur’).
So if you get Walter next time, make sure you congratulate him.
