And There Were 8 Houses of Bling

It’s not just bankers going through some tough times.

mansion, bling

See if this makes you feel any better: there are at least 8 rappers’ houses on the block, and some are being sold under what appears to be duress.

Russell Simmons - $23MM (though the other page says asking is $20MM, so potential buyers — looks like there’s some flexibility!). I find it remarkable how a $23MM property is marketed in much the same way I would sell something on Craglist:

majestic palatial gated estate, set on 4 lushly landscaped acres in the most exclusive town of saddle river n.j. just 40 min. from mid-town n.y.c. features 35,000 sq. ft, 20 rooms, 10 bdrms, 11 bths,30×50 great room,100 foot gallery with coffered ceiling, panelled library, huge dining room with fplc, indoor and outdoor swimming pools with waterfalls, caves cabana, gym, movie theatre, wine cellar, fabulous master suite.

Kanye West’s Beverly Hills digs are just shy of $10MM, though the property does look a touch on the old site (check out the Trulia listing here)

50 Cent’s Connecticut hideaway has a koi pond. Check out the pictures for yourself. I’ll leave it at that, since I value my life.

For $2MM you could buy Snoop Dogg’s place … or a smallish 2 bedroom in the city. Snoop’s place looks pretty nice, though I don’t know if the structure next to the basketball court named “Tha Dogg Locker” (I think that’s what it says … check out the pics) really suits me.

And if these are all to pricey … well, there’s always Eminem’s childhood home.
