Boutique I-Banks Continue to Add Staff

So stop getting so weepy.
First news that Standard Chartered is hiring; now more word that there are firms adding staff in the M&A world.
FT surveyed several M&A boutiques ranging from 11 to 140 bankers, with a presence in London plus at least one other major market. And guess what? The firms had grown staff by approximately 15 percent, or 80 people. Not much when it comes to absolute numbers, but not too shabby either, when you consider all of the boutiques out there.
On the up and up include Evercore Partners, Hawkpoint and Gleacher Shacklock, reports the FT.
Hawkpoint has absorbed the oil & gas team from BoA, while Evercore has hired 15 in US and Europe since 2007, including former Bear Stearns restructuring head Daniel A. Celentano. And the firm plans on adding three new partners in 2008, according to Dealbook.
Anyone been approached by a boutique?

Needham, Canaccord Adams, and Scott-Macon are all hiring. A few of my colleagues have been approached by these firms.

I just spoke to an executive search partner whose firm has a strong presence in the financial industry. He says the job market isn’t as gloomy as the media suggests although it’s more competitive than last year. He says his firm is currently conducting a number of searches. He also gave some great interview tips.

I am leaving the mortgage industry after 10 years. I have strong relationships with some ex IBers who have introduced me to these large and high volume projects in the Billions. I work on some really high profile projects with prime minister of a country and Senior manager of the Energy department of the country in one instance. I really am lost in trying to search and learn what firm I need to look into that Fund Oil and Gas projects or concentrate in the Energy sector mostly, most importantly How can I give myself a chance to get hired at any firms as such that fund such projects, Any advise and help appreciated,
