Caffeine Options

It’s back to school, so get your caffeine and herbal supplements in order.
One of our readers tells us to get our interns all of the Really Big Caffeine Database, like NOW. To that we respond - what interns?
The database ranks caffeine options by mg and by ounce. Coming in at the most mg/oz is “Ammo” - a energy shot more than drink with 171 mg/oz.
A good old fashion espresso clocks in at 51.33 mg/oz, though a study of espresso in Queensland, Australia revealed a whopping 106 mg/serving, versus the standard 77 mg.
As for the standard cup of joe, Starbuck’s is way out front with 22 mg/oz, which I guess explains the long lines. Dunkin’s (8.9 mg/oz) was way under generic Drip Coffee (18.13 mg/oz) but in line with McDonald’s.
We hope someone will add “food cart coffee” to the list. It’s always been my feeling that this particular breed is light on flavor, but somehow heavy on caffeine. Not to mention non-chain coffee in NYC in general, which must be below these averages given the ridiculous amounts of cream that gets glugged in. Just try to get a little bit of cream. I dare you.
Thanks to A- for the forward.
