Figures From a Bygone Era: Our Comp Report

Presenting, our first ever salary report.

Admittedly, it’s not the best time to talk about money. But we crunched some salary numbers and wanted to share them with you, o loyal reader. If you aren’t familiar with our salary surveys, by all means go fill it out, right now (Just remember - garbage in, garbage out).

Believe it or not, we have managed to collect more than 7,000 responses - which means a lot of data. We have done our best to clean up some of this data and present it to you.

Though we collect investment banking, private equity, hedge fund, venture capital - even consulting - data, we didn’t feel comfortable with the number of data points to present this all. So: we focused on investment banking and private equity because that’s where we had the most relevant data.

However, we are launching a new buyout-focused salary survey (for private equity and VC) and a hedge fund focused survey.

Presenting, Figures From a Bygone Era: BankersBall’s Investment Banking & Private Equity 2007-2008 Compensation Report (sponsored by OneWire).

Um, aren’t those bonus’s ridiculously high for 2008? Didn’t IBs cut them by 70-100% across the board?

Looked at first line of spreadsheet:

Analyst with 0 yrs experience Max bonus in 2008 is $206k.

This was all I needed to see to know that I didn’t need to read anymore. These numbers are completely off.

When the owner and president of SWATCH in Switzerland read the list he withdrew 2.000.000.000 Swiss FRank from the company account at the UBS.
You can draw your own conclusions!

Being married to an i-Banker that used to work for one of biggest investment banks, I can tell you that these numbers seem high for the 2008 and later days. However, this website has never been known for providing an accurate portrayal. It’s really more of a self-deluding/self-aggrandizing thing BankersBall is going for. not hating, just speaking the Truff.
