“Wall Street 2″: No Longer “Money Never Sleeps”

The Wall Street sequel has the green light again and is no longer going by the name “Money Never Sleeps”.

Let’s see. We first posted about “Money Never Sleeps” back in mid-2007, and the damn movie has still not been made. The writers have changed, and now the LAT reports that that horrible title “Money Never Sleeps” is thankfully kaput as well. (At this point, we point you to our old coverage of the Wall Street sequel).

The movie will once again be directed by original Wall Streeter Oliver Stone (though previously the man was not involved), and Fox reportedly hopes to go into production sometime this summer. Douglas will still be back, and Shia LaBeouf is in negotiations to play a Charlie Sheen-esque newbie.

According to E, the movie begins a few years ago:

“Gordon Geckko has just got out of jail and we kind of deal with all the issues that are going on now. It’s an excellent script. I’m really excited about it.” (Douglas)

And that’s not all. Says 20th Century Fox spokesman Gregg Brilliant “We need to keep the story line under wraps, but it’s literally ripped from today’s headlines … It’s going to be very big and very cool.”

READERS: Let’s hear your plotlines below.

And here is a summary of what we still don’t know:
- When it will come out. IMDB says 2011; other sites says 2010.

What we do know:
- Gordon Gekko will be back
- Bud Fox still won’t be back
- Oliver Stone is back directing
- Shia LaBeouf may be in the movie
- Previously we reported that it would be set in London (yes, appalling). Actually, it’s going to be set in “New York, in London, in the United Arab Emirates and in an Asian country.” (Telegraph)
- Gekko will be more “outwardly altruistic” (Telegraph again)
- “The new film will take off with Gekko out of jail and ‘resuming his machinations on a global scale in the hedge-fund era.”

I was so excited until I saw Shia LaBeouf may be involved. Unless of course his actual father is going to play his character’s father. You know - Charlie and Martin style!

Shia Leboof is a pathetic actor. I am glad Stone is on board.

That gay little piece of shit “Shia” will ruin the entire movie. I won’t go see it if he is in it.

London (moreso at one point: before A. Darling) is a real phenomenon. I look forward to the movie, but can’t help but think that some blue-collar worker will see it and be “justified” in his existence.
