Hedge Fund Wives & the Mistresses of the Universe
By BankersBall on May 12, 2009 in Girlfriend!, Good Read, NYC
Who cares about you? We want to hear about the wifey.
Maybe it’s because the Real Housewives have returned to the East Coast again. Or maybe it’s because all of the (former?) Park Ave princesses now find themselves in a situation where they need to contribute to the household income. Whatever the reason, there seems to be rising interest in the ladies of the finance world - both from a “wife of” perspective as well as the ladies who actually work in finance.
Witness two books that deal with hedge fund wifeys: Hedge Fund Wives and The Ex-Mrs. Hedgefund
. We have not read either but hope to do an interview with Hedge Fund Wives author, Tatiana Boncompagni.
We want to alert you for several reasons. In the case of the Ex-Mrs., you may want to do a scan to see if you recognize any people you may know. While author Jill Kargman is not herself married to a financier, she consulted several hedgie wifes, one of whom seemed to use the book for vengeance:
One asked Kargman to print the name of the high-priced escort with whom her ex-husband was cavorting, in an era when integrity was secondary to liquid assets. (Tribune)
And then there is the recent request for wives and finance ladies alike for a docu-series to talk about the “new reality” of ladies who are trying to cope with the recent economic change and “reclaim their American Express Black Cards.”
Which all begs the question: why the sudden interest in the ladies? Are we all collectively tired of the Masters of the Universe?

Not all hedgies have mistresses. Some have character (at least one has character).

If by character you mean the insatiable desire to received other men, then yes sir, hedgies without mistresses have an abundance of character.

Is “CT” for real? Whats with the hostility? Girls like that are why ambitious women are seen as cunts.

Dear CT,
You are in your early 20s and used to be a hedgie and are now a banker? Pardon me, but this reeks of bullshit.
If by ‘hedgie’, you mean back office, then perhaps that is believable. Yet, your cold demeanor suggests that you’ve failed on more than one occasion at your job.
And a ‘banker’ now? What at the ripe old age of 22 are you the head of private placements at some middle market? I bet you think EBIT means eating before intentionally throwing-up.

CT…. As much as I appreciate your ambition, you have quite the battle ahead of you to get to where you want to be and I wish you much success. Cuz when you get there that’s when the game really starts. As for the pre-nup, please look me up as I would be than happy to turn the tables and be kept. Stay home, hang with the Maid , play golf (instead of shopping) all while using your funds……..Sign me up! I prefer my bentley in black please…
