- Harvard chick’s sex blog, Sex and the Ivy, via Radar. Yawn.
- Blue Nile’s markup on diamonds is about 20%, brick-and-mortar is about 50%. The average price of a diamond ring bought on Blue Nile: $5,500 (industry average is $2,700); at least one ring costing $20,000 to $40,000 is sold everyday. via NYTimes.
- The Asian/affirmative action college debate rages on. Berkeley’s fall 2006 class is 46% Asian, other selected colleges’ Asian %s are here. The Chancellor maintains that even if the school were 70% Asian, they would not do anything. NYTimes
- Did you know that Indian VIPs actually get state-provided security? Imagine the Secret Service detailing Lindsey Lohan. And it’s not just for politicians, but CEOs, celebrities … basically anyone who is a VIP. Apparently, it’s all the rage (among VIPs) to discuss just who’s been ranked an X, Y, Z or Z+ (who get 2, 11, 22 or 36 guards, respectively). WSJ.
