Salaries & Bonuses … of the Mediocre
By BankersBall on Jan 10, 2007 in Cube Life, Salaries
Even for those in finance it must get tiresome to read all of those Blankfein $53MM bonus articles. Well, thankfully BusinessWeek has come out with some datapoints for the vast majority who are and will forever remain just average. So, rejoice. Here they are, and they’re still a huge amount of money.
Investment Banking
- Managing Director: $1.8MM - $2.0MM (unclear if this is just base or base + bonus)
- “Team Leaders” & Other Senior Bankers: $3.5MM - $4.0MM in bonus
- Vice chairmen: $20MM+ in bonus
Private Equity
- Vice President (3-4 years out of MBA): $400,000 - $650,000 base & bonus, not including profit share
And as we previously reported, there is inflation going on in the salaries of the junior ranks, defined as MBAs 2+ years out of school. So financiers the world over can thank their colleagues in private equity and hedge funds for driving up the price of talent.
According to BW, aforementioned mini bankers are now making $400,000+ in base & bonus, versus $300,000-$325,000 two or three years ago.
